Our current K-9 unit began in December of 2009 with the addition of Rambo, a black Labrador, to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office family. He was paired with Sergeant Jodey Powell as his handler. Rambo served the agency nobly until his retirement in late 2011. He now lives with the Powell family enjoying a happy retirement.
K-9 Deputy Darci joined our ranks in February of 2012. She and her partner, Sergeant Powell, quickly began their tour of duty by obtaining certifications through the National Police Canine Association, the International Forensic Research Institute and the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association as well as completing many advanced K-9 training classes.
They have assisted local, state and federal agencies including the DEA, ICE, HITDA, FBI, GBI, GSP, FCDTF and the Henry County Board of Education. During which the team has assisted with hundreds of search warrants (some of which Darci provided probable cause) which have resulted in the seizure of hundreds of thousands of dollars of cash and drugs.
Darci’s training and reliability have held up in court at the state and federal level.
