A career in Law Enforcement offers many challenges and rewards. There are numerous promotional opportunities and specialized assignments available. Most entry level positions inside the Sheriff’s Office are in the Jail Division as a detention officer.
Detention Officer applicants must:
- Be at least 20 years of age
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be a High School Graduate or possess a GED
- Not have any convictions for felonies or misdemeanor offenses involving moral turpitude
- Once hired pass and obtain Georgia Jail Officer Certification within 6 months of employment
