A career in Law Enforcement offers many challenges and rewards.  Most entry level positions inside the Sheriff’s Office are in the Jail Division as a detention officer. 

Detention Officer applicants must:

  • Be at least 20 years of age
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Be a High School Graduate or possess a GED
  • Not have any convictions for felonies or misdemeanor offenses involving moral turpitude
  • Once hired pass and obtain Georgia Jail Officer Certification within 6 months of employment

The employment procedure includes:

  • Oral Review Board
  • Medical and Psychological Exam
  • Background Investigation
  • Substance Screening
  • Executive Interview
  • Final Offer of Employment
