Sheriff’s Offices in every Georgia County are required by Georgia law to provide security at county facilities with particular emphasis on Court Facilities and Courtrooms. This weighty responsibility is assigned to the Court Services Unit of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
This specially trained unit includes Deputy Sheriffs and Bailiffs who provide security and courtroom services at the four Henry County court facilities: the County Courthouse and Annex, the Judicial Center, the Probate Court building, and jail Court. These facilities provide fourteen courtrooms for: Superior, State, Magistrate, Probate, and Juvenile courts. The increased security measures are designed to protect the public and employees, the members of the bar visiting the facility, all full and part-time judges and their staff, and the inmates in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies are stationed inside each courtroom whenever a court is in session and throughout the buildings at all times. About 5,000 Inmates are transported annually to the courts by Court Services Deputies and are closely guarded as they appear in the various court hearings and trials. If you are one of the over 200,000 persons who visit one of our court facilities a year, you will be greeted by members of the Court Services Unit who provide security screenings of everyone who enters the judicial buildings.
