The Henry County Sheriff's Office Training Unit is responsible for planning, scheduling, preparing, conducting, maintaining and coordinating initial and continual training for all personnel. It is the primary liaison with the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council which is the agency that accredits law enforcement personnel in the state.
In a continuing effort to improve the skills of our employees, the unit offers a variety of training topics which include ethics, defensive tactics, crisis intervention, firearms and first aid/CPR. Our instructors assist other agencies as well as regional police academies in providing classes which can also be attended by law enforcement officers from other departments. In addition, it coordinates with guest instructors who are experts in their fields to offer training sessions to better enhance the skills and knowledge base of our staff.
The training unit is staffed by state certified instructors who are well-known professionals in their fields. They are dedicated in assisting the Sheriff in providing the citizens of Henry County with the highest qualified deputies and to improve the professional standards of all Sheriff's Office employees.
